Dries

Dries are usually always an imitation of natural flies, fished singly on a floating line with a tapered leader for better turnover and presentation. Considered by most game anglers to be the ultimate challenge in deceiving a fish to take. Many dry flies benefit from being greased before use with floatant such as Gink etc. with the exception of CDC and foam-bodied varieties. Different patterns are used to coincide with the natural hatches throughout the year e.g. Mayflies mid-June, Caenis July to September, with Dark Olives hatching most of the year. Most anglers will have their own theory on what fishes best at any time.
